About Bio-Shock Testing and Environmental Solutions
Bio-Shock exists to help people understand what is happening inside their homes and buildings when the indoor environment doesn’t feel right.
I approach this work as an environmental professional, not a salesperson and not a medical provider. My role is to evaluate indoor air quality, moisture behavior and building dynamics, then explain what is happening clearly so people can make informed decisions without fear or speculation.
That clarity is what most people are looking for when they call.
🎗️ Why This Work Matters to Me
In 2016, my wife passed away from a fatal asthma attack while she was cleaning our home.
There was no obvious warning sign beforehand. It happened during an ordinary task, in an environment that did not appear visibly dangerous. That moment permanently changed how I view indoor environments and indoor air quality.
Bio-Shock was built from that experience, but not from emotion or alarm. It was built from the understanding that indoor environments can behave in ways people don’t expect and that those behaviors deserve to be evaluated carefully, professionally and honestly.
🔍 What Bio-Shock Does
Bio-Shock provides Certified Indoor Health Assessments and environmental evaluations focused on how air, moisture and contaminants behave inside buildings.
Rather than relying on assumptions or isolated readings, I evaluate the structure as a system. That includes:
-
🌬️ Air Flow: How air moves between spaces.
-
💧 Moisture: How moisture behaves over time.
-
⚖️ Pressure: How pressure relationships influence what ends up in the breathing zone.
This approach allows me to identify whether the indoor environment is contributing to problems such as odors, discomfort, moisture concerns or air quality issues and to explain those findings in plain language.
📋 Assessment First, Always
I do not start with remediation and I do not sell solutions before understanding the problem.
-
The Initial Call: Every engagement begins with a detailed phone conversation. That verbal assessment is an essential part of the process. It helps establish context, identify patterns and determine whether an on-site assessment is appropriate and at what level.
-
Diagnostic Nature: If an assessment is performed, it is diagnostic in nature. Visual observations and olfactory observations are documented alongside environmental measurements.
-
Contextual Evaluation: Areas such as basements, crawlspaces and attics are evaluated in context with living spaces, not in isolation.
-
The Outcome: The result is a comprehensive written report that explains what is happening in the building and why.
🛡️ Professional Standards and Integrity
All assessments and recommendations follow established industry guidance and professional standards, including:
-
American Industrial Hygiene Association field assessment protocols
-
ANSI/IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mold Remediation
-
ASHRAE 62.1 Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality
-
ASHRAE 62.2 Ventilation for Low-Rise Residential Buildings
These standards guide how data is collected, interpreted and communicated. They exist to promote accuracy, consistency and ethical practice and they form the foundation of how Bio-Shock operates.
🤝 Independence and Trust
Some people believe the person performing an assessment should not also be involved in remediation planning. I agree with that concern, which is why Bio-Shock operates transparently.
My role is to identify conditions and explain options. Clients are free to use that information however they choose, including working with any qualified remediation provider they trust. Many clients choose to continue working with Bio-Shock because they value continuity and trust the process. Others do not. Recommendations do not change based on who performs the work.
👶 Special Consideration for Families
I take additional care when children are involved, especially babies and toddlers.
Young children have developing respiratory systems and lower tolerance for environmental stressors. While I do not diagnose health conditions, understanding how air and contaminants move through the spaces children occupy most is an important part of responsible environmental evaluation. That consideration informs how assessments are scoped and how findings are explained.
✨ What You Can Expect
You can expect a calm, thorough and honest approach.
If conditions are normal, I will say so. If issues are present, they will be explained clearly, without exaggeration or alarm. If remediation is warranted, it will be discussed as part of a broader corrective strategy, not as a default outcome.
My goal is not to convince you something is wrong. My goal is to determine whether the environment is behaving in a way that deserves attention.
📞 Starting the Conversation
If you have questions about your indoor environment, the first step is simply a conversation. We’ll talk through what you’re experiencing, what prompted your concern and whether an assessment makes sense. From there, we’ll decide how to proceed thoughtfully and responsibly.
